Our Story

MEET THE DORN FAMILY

Dewey Catchem & How has been part of the Minocqua fishing community for years, and we’re proud to be the family behind its next chapter.

We’re Shane and Megan Dorn, and together with our three kids, we took over Dewey’s in 2026. Our family has always loved the Northwoods, the outdoors and the kind of businesses that become part of a community. When the opportunity came along to continue the Dewey’s tradition, we knew it was something special.

SAME DEWEY’S. NEW CHAPTER.

Taking over Dewey’s was never about changing everything people have come to know and love. Our goal is to build on what was already here while continuing to improve the store, expand the selection and make it easier for customers to find what they need—whether they’ve been fishing these lakes for decades or are visiting the Northwoods for the first time.

We’re working to bring in more great fishing gear, keep the live bait selection strong, improve the shopping experience both in-store and online, and continue making Dewey’s a place where you can stop in and get real local knowledge before heading out on the water.

A FAMILY BUSINESS

This truly is a family adventure for us. You’ll see our family around the store, helping behind the scenes and learning what it takes to run a Northwoods business.

We believe locally owned businesses should feel personal. We want Dewey’s to be the kind of place where customers feel comfortable asking questions, talking fishing and stopping in just to see what’s new.

LOOKING AHEAD

We’re excited about what’s ahead for Dewey Catchem & How. There will be new products, store improvements and plenty of learning along the way—but the heart of Dewey’s will stay the same: good bait, good gear, local knowledge and people who genuinely want to help you have a great day on the water.

Thanks for supporting our family and this local Northwoods business. We look forward to seeing you at Dewey’s.
