In scenarios of extended monitoring such as trail monitoring or trapping the user may decide to use 1-way communications for extended battery life while the weekend warrior fisherman might opt for 2-way communications which allows them to consistently confirm they are in range. Many other systems on the market claim hundreds of feet in range but this is in an ideal Line of Sight (LOS) situation and those systems don’t have good signal penetration. The Vulture Handheld is easily put into a very low power mode (radio off) and turned back on by holding buttons 1 and 2 of the Handheld for 5 seconds. This allows the user to leave batteries in the Vulture Handheld when not in use and not have to open up the case. When in use the expected battery life the Vulture Handheld is roughly 15 days of continuous use (radio on).
